SF2011: The Adventure Begins

If all has gone according to plan, by the time you read this, I’ll have already started my long day of travelling to the other side of the world!

Yesterday I booked myself onto my flights, selecting a nice window seat for the Aberdeen-London leg of the journey and then an aisle seat (for the necessary leg stretching) mid way between baby cots and toilets (in the hope of minimum disruption) and near enough an emergency exit to satisfy my mother that when if we crash I’ll at least get out alive. I hope the people I’m sitting next to are nice: 10hours 45minutes next to a snorer would not be fun!

I still wasn’t nervous at four o’clock yesterday afternoon. It has to be a God-thing. I don’t think I’ve ever been this calm about any trip anywhere; I get worked up about going back to uni after the holidays even! But there’s none of that this time. This whole thing is so completely in God’s hands and out of mine that there’s nothing for me to be freaking out over. It’s an adventure!!!

A few last minute prayer requests, if I may:

  • that the ash clouds stay away.
  • for making my connection at Heathrow okay (I have plenty time but things happen)
  • for immigration once states-side (I’ve  heard they can be mean and I am just within the visa-waiver limit)
  • that I’d sleep on the plane
Love you all, will post asap once I land.

  1. “Other side of the world”?! Try 32 hours to New Zealand, then you’ll know what it means to be on the other side of the world!

You’ll be great. And God will be awesome!
